UIDAI says Mandatory Biometric Updates are free for children aged 5–17 through 30 September 2026 under the current special initiative.
What changed
UIDAI said on 18 August 2026 that its nationwide school-focused drive had completed more than 2 crore Mandatory Biometric Updates across more than 1.56 lakh schools.
Who should check
Parents and guardians should check whether a child’s Mandatory Biometric Update is due. Aadhaar biometric information is required to be updated after a child attains age 5 and again after age 15.
What to do next
If the child’s update is due, complete the applicable Mandatory Biometric Update before 30 September 2026. UIDAI provides Aadhaar update services through authorised enrolment/update centres and has also been conducting school-level camps.
